The truth is... I don’t have one particular thing that i own that has significant value to me. But, many things that are part of my life, mean much more to me than what they literally are. If that made any sense. For example, my wooden bracelet that my mom made for me. It is really sentimental to me in many ways. It also looks cool so that’s a plus. I wear it almost every day. Whenever I look at it, it reminds me that I have strong family bonds, and that, no matter what, I have people that I can count on. This bracelet is very important to me, and is much more than just a bracelet.

Another thing that I admire is my fossilized shark’s tooth that i found in Mexico. My brother, Our friends, and I were digging through some shells to see if we could find anything interesting. After about 30 seconds or so, I picked up a full, un-chipped, fossilized shark’s tooth. It was pretty sweet. At first I thought it would make a rad necklace, and I pitched the idea to my mom and step dad but they said that it looked pretty valuable, and that we should keep it somewhere safer. I was a little bummed at first, but eventually realized that this was a wiser choice. The cool thing about this tooth is that, when I was in Mexico, i lost it, and we were sure it was gone forever. I was sooo bummed. But the day before we left that area, we decided to look for it one more time (because it was so awesome), and sure enough, I found it. This made me feel like this tooth would always be a part of me. Now we keep it on a shelf in our living room.

One other thing that is very important to me, is my obsidian arrowhead. I was given this arrowhead when I was about 6-7 by my mom and soon-to-be step dad. They had just come back from a trip to this really cool place called Big Sur. I was really excited, because whenever my mom went on trips, she would always bring us back something. At this point in my life, I was fascinated and interested in rocks and minerals and precious stones. My mom had fulfilled my hopes. She brought back some pieces of turquoise, two big chunks of amethyst, some quartz crystals, fools gold, and two obsidian arrowheads. These arrowheads drew me in. I couldn't stop holding mine, and everywhere I went, it went with me. I would spend ours studying it, and wondering what pasts it had been through. Looking at the glossy, ink-like surface of the thing was like looking into another world. And it felt good to be able to call it "mine". I even brought it in for show and tell about three weeks in a row. And I still have it to this day. I'm not exactly sure where it is, but I know i have it. Somewhere.

So these were the “One Thing(s)” that were most important to me that I owned. Pretty much everything I own has some kind of meaning or back story behind it, but these two things really pop out when I think of something special to me.
